Worship
Founded in 1859, St. John’s is a wonderful and historic church, and a vibrant part of the Toorak and Melbourne community. This parish church is part of the Anglican Church of Australia and a member of the global Anglican Communion, comprised of 80 million people. We offer a number of services of Holy Communion during the week and everyone is welcome at our worship and events regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race or background.
Sunday Worship
8.00am Said Eucharist:*
Holy Communion with hymn singing.
This service is a peaceful celebration of Word and Sacrament early on a Sunday. We read the bible, pray for the world and share in Holy Communion.
10.00am Sung Eucharist:
Holy Communion, sung service with St. John’s Choir.**
This is a joyful celebration of Word and Sacrament where we gather together to hear the Bible read, pray for the needs of the people of the world, share in Holy Communion and sing praises through sacred music.
This worship is followed by morning tea, either in our beautiful gardens, or in the Buxton Hall.
Weekday Worship
Wednesday 7.00pm:*
Holy Communion in the Angel Chapel. This is a peaceful and prayerful service. An evening of hearing the Bible read and sharing in Holy Communion. This worship is followed by refreshments and conversation in the Vestry.
*From Christmas Day through to the first Sunday in February, there is one service of worship each week on Sunday at 10.00am.
** In the months of January & July the choir takes a break and we are led by a selection of soloists and/ or instrumentalists
